Wilson for an alleged breach of the Building Trades Labourers’ Union Award by employing a non-unioniit when there was a unionist available to take his place. Edward Kennedy, secretary of the Union, said the question to be settled, was whether the Union was entitled to fclaim arrears in subscriptions incurred by a member who had paid his entrance fee or whether the man who had paid his entrance foe but nor his subscription, and was consequently struck off for being twelve months in arrears could again become a member entitled to all the privileges by paying another entrance fee. It was agreed to state a case for the Arbitration Court, and judgment or the present prosecution was reserved. DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF ARM. WELLINGTON, March IS. When Charles Harvey appeared on demand in the Magistrate’s Court, ■barged with the murder of a Chinese ftorckeeper, on 12th September, the police asked permission to withdraw he charge upon the recommendation ;f the Crown Law Office. The only evidence fjgainst accused was his own statement on confession. The police had enquired into that and were satisfied that no jury could cinvict Harvey.
