REGRE-ATION RESERVE. A COMPLSTE S [JOCESS. The Taihaps Hibernian Hub held their annual snorts on the Recreation Reserve yesterday, St. Patrick s Day. Evehy event, in fact all arrangements, passed c?f most smoothly, iollecUng the greatest credit on the dual secretaries, Messrs Or'pley and MeLaugh lan. The judging ci all events, horse, chopping and athletic, gave the utmost satisfaction, and too much cannot be said in praise cf the care that was taken to give credit where due. Mr Wilson, cf Huntervil’.o, judged the horse events, Messrs Quin, Anderson,: and Cressey the chopping, and Mr L. D. Kni.'ght made an excellent timekeeper. The la-.jge number of young people seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves, taking quite a boisterous interest in almost everything Dm,t was going on. The ladies of Taihape provided' an excellent luncheon and afternoon tea which was well patronkad and appreciated. Considering that other picnics were beir(? held in cl her centres not fap from Taihape the result was a brilliant financial success. The takings at Inc gates amounted to £45, sheep-guessing £l3 10/; .refreshment tent £3O, soft drinks £G hi, and upwards icf £IG wa s taken at the'entertainment in tire evening. Maiden T. Bradley 1, G. Wheeler 2, W. West 3. Double-handled Sawing (15 inches): Terry and mate 1, Gregory and mate 2, Williams and mate 3. Standing Chop (12 inches): Smith 1, Neal 2, Mq.tls 3. (Second heat). Milo and a half District Bicycle Race: Ormond 1.
Physical Drill (6 men and N.C.0.): Fending (135 points), 1; Wanganui (123 points) 2; Taihape (124 points) 3. Final Chop (12 inches standing): Neal 1, Peck 2. Time 38 3-5. Peck put up a world's record for this event of 23 3-ssecs. Stockman’s Race: Troy won first and second.
