WEDDING.
GARRICK—WHITE. A well-known local young couple were yesterday united in holy wedlock at St, Margaret’s Anglican Church The contracting parties were Mr. Thomas Garrick, of the clerical division of the Railway Department, and Miss Gertrude White, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. «L White, of Taihape. Although the ceremony was of a quiet nature great interest was evinced by a large coterie of relatives and old friends of the happy couple. The bride was given away by her father, and her sister Myrtle acted as bridesmaid.
The bride was becomingly and sedately attired in a dress of white silk crop do (diene trimmed with shadow lace over satin. She also wore an embroidered bridal veil over n mob cap of white trimmed with orange blossonit and carried a beautiful bouquet. The bridesmaid wore white silk inlet with shadow lace and trimmed with charnieuse. She also wore a pale blue mob cap. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. If. Robinson, of Marton, as best man, and Mr. F. White, brother of tn* bride, as groomsman. After the ceremony an adjournment was made to the residence of the bride's parents in Hautapn Street, whore the usual toasts were enthusiastically responded + .i> and felicitations exchanged.
The bridegroom’s present to hJs bride was an upright grand piano and to the bridomaid a wristlet watch. Mr. and Mrs. Garrick were the recipients of several handsome, useful and costly presents, including a very substantial cheque from the firm of White md Sons.
The young couple left on their honeymoon trip by the midnight express, to the accompaniment of best wishes of a large assemblage. Detonators were freely distributed on the liuo by the bridegroom’s fellow-work-men, and the train departed with incessant reports from the detonators.
