WAR RELIEF.
AMOUNTS ACKNOWLEDGED. The Governor received acknowledgments of various contributions which have been forwarded to London in connection with the British and Belgian Relief Funds. Up to the present the sum of £37,347 has been transmitted for Belgian relief, and £25,642 for the poor of Britain and Ireland. The Belgian Minister writes: "I shall be obliged if you will kindly convey to the Governor and to all the kind donors my most grateful thanks tot tneir continued help, which is so deeply appreciated by my suffering countrymen, and will ever be remembered by them." The treasurer to the Prince of Wales writes: "His Royal Highness was extremely grateful at receiving these splendid additions to the fund, and wished me to write you a special letter asking you to make known to the subscribers how warmly His Royal Highness appreciates the generous support which he has received from New Zealand.
