COUNCIL OF EDUCATION. WELLINGTON, March 4. Regulations appear in to-night’s “Gazette’ ’for the conduct of the election of members of the Council of Education, the setting up of which was provided in last year’s amendment to the Education Act. Theie aie sight classes cf electors for whom rolls are to, be provided, as follows; North Island Education Boards’ roll; South Island Education Boards’ roll; North Island Public School male teachers’ roll; South Island Public School male teachers’ roll. The secondary iml technical male teachers roll; the North Island public school women teachers’ roll; the South Island public school women teachers’ roll. The election is fixed annually for elective members cf the Council for the second Monday in each May every year.

METHODIST CONFERENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. At the Methodist Conference to-day, VTr J Veale presented the balance ,heet of the Home Mission Fund. This •bowed that the income for last year was £5,',602. The expenditure wa^s £5445. Estimates for the current year were: Income, £5792; expenditure, £5978 14s; deficit, £226 14s. On the notion of the Rev. G. Bond, chairman :f the committee, the best thanks of he Conference were presented to Mr Veale for his able services during the oast five years. He voiced the great -bligation of the Conference to Mr Veale for his services’ ,and sincere regret that he has found it necessary to ■ e ss)»n. Rev. G. Bond was unanimously Appointed general treasurer cf the J mid and Mr J. Veale honorary treauirer. Rev. Geo. Bond moved the commitee’s recommendation that the thanks if the Conference be presented to the dev. G. Brook, organising secretary for Pome missions, and that he be appoint,l for another year. This was carried manimously. In further dealing with the extension -f the term cf ministerial appointnents,’the Rev. C. H. Laws moved: That the majority required to carry uch appointments in Conference be educed to 55 per cent.” This was carled by 141 to 4.
