LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING-. The monthly meeting of the Wellington District Land Board waa held on Friday. Present: Messrs. T. IS'. Brodrick (Commissioner of Crown Lands), J, Dawson, H. T. Ellingham, ,T. Georegtti, and C. Mclntyre. The following business was tranacted: — Cash town lands open for selection under the I.aud Act. —Sections 7,8, 9, 11, .12, and 14, block 8, Mangaweka Township, la 2r OS]), cash, James Goorgetti.

Renewal of pastoral license. —Ban 30, blocks 15 and 16, Moavvhango, and 1. Ohinewairua, 1600 acres, Past. Lie., J. Stalker. —Granted.

Town lands open for application in “Crowns Lands Guide.” —Section 1(5, block 21, Ohakune Township, 0a Ir 00p., T.E.B;, P. H. Gosso. Under temporary licenses. —19 acres approximately in block 14, Mangauui S.D., 19 acres, temporary permit, C. 8. Price; subject to usual conditions re compensation, determination, etc.

Calm for grazing license over section 3 and 4, block 7, Makotuku, was refused, A.F. Chamberlain applied for permission to split posts on Crown Lands

adjoining section 2, block J 6, Kaitioke—Refused. J. A. Miller ay.plied for permission to split lire wood and posts on the unoccupied sections in the Horopito Yvest township.—Granted at the royalty recommended by the ranger; notice to bo given to the ranger before the removal of timbr. It was resolved to pay the amount received for improvements on section 16, block 5, Karioi, to the person who effected th cm—J. 8t ill or.—A p proved. Tho following local bodies forwarded proposals for the expenditure of accrued thirds, and it was resolved to

approve the proposals, subject to. investigation by the ranger, and so far as the amounts are still available: Raotilli Town Board 7 11/7, Ohakune Borough Council £73 5/9, Mangawhero Road Board £IOB9 6/5.

Tho Kaitieke Council Council applied for permission to hypothecate tho thirds over sections 1,2, 3,4, block 7,' and 1, block S, Eetaruke, to

pay interest and'principal on loans raised for road purposes in the Malign rhutn rating- area. —Adjourned for

rangers report. A. Y. Thcoboki applied to surrender lease of section I, block 3, Wainuioru (Poroporo). 54.8 acres, and asked that

he be not debarred from competing for other land, and Mint his deposit be returned.—Resolved to accept surrender provided the rent was paid. R. McDonald applied for exemption from paying rent on section 7, block 13, Kaitieke 8.D., until he gets a road to the land. —There being no power to entertain the application, the request was refused.

S. W. Chapman applied for a reduction in rent of his leases of Waiouru station, runs 1,3, and 4, Moawhango, Kaimanawa, and Motupuhaka, comprising 74,645 acres, owing to high altitude causing losses of stock nad cost of keeping rabbits under check.—Tho board had no recommendation to make.
