The Germans are in full retreat west of the .Naiiew River,- in some disorder, losing large batchps of prisoners, gains and transport. It is estimated that 44 divisions are operating in the Carpathians, twentysix in Western Galicia and Poland, and thirty in Northern Poland and East Prussia. Newly formed battalions have tpen hurried' into the field. The enemy dread Russia’s increasing strength for spring. The Germans are already transferring troops from East Prussia, some going to Belgium and Alsace, but most to the Vistula, where a renewed effort is to be made to reach Warsaw.
