A TAIHAPE CONTRIBUTION
SHEEP FOR BELGIAN RELIEF. 1110 SHEEP COLLECTED. The collection of shetap sufficient to make up a stock train, conducted under the auspices of the local branch, of the Farmers 1 ’ Union, of which Dr Barnett is the president, has resulted most satisfactorily, and the response by farmers is indeed excellent, as from Taihape and surrounding districts, including Kcjeke, Tiriraukawa, Rangiwaia, Ruanui, Mataroa, Pukeokahu, Taoroa and Oraatama, 930 fat sheep have been donated. Arrangeiments have been made for the collection of all these sheep by Dr Barnett, and to the above number for 180 from thfe Raetihi district, making a total of 1110 sheep. They are all to be railed from Taihape (on Wednesday ineajt. Those from Koeke and Ruanui are to tja in Mataroa on Monday night, where Mr W. A Coogan has kindly lent a paddock for the night. A train of about 18 trucks will be required to take them to Wellington, where ar-. rangements have befen made with a Wellington Meat Export Company to take charge.
A late message has been received from Wellington'stating that owing to pressure the Company cannot take delivery during the coming week. Contributors will be advised when the sheep can Be taken.
