The Wanganui Hospihil Bo;:nl met >u NVcdnesday. Present: Messrs. Bas<ett (chairman), Lethbridgc, Fletcher. VlcGregor, Bigncll, Bennett, Russell. A'hiteman, Goldfinch, Mesdamos ]omyns and Siddells. Office Site.—Thy executive recommended that the Board erect offices on : ts own land at the corner of Guyton ind Campbell Streets, the cost of the milding not to exceed £IOOO. —Adopted. The Health . Inspector (Mr. T. Pur-i-eter) reported:—'Typhoid fever has aiadc its appearance in the districts of )hakuuc and- Raetihi. At first it looked like us having a serious outbreak to deal with, but as we have not eceived any further notifications dur.ng the last three weeks, i.t is to be hoped there will be no further cases. Sale of Food and Drugs Act. —The Taihape supply of milk has been tested, with the result that legal proceeding-.' ire to be taken in one case Regukv ions have been delivered to the shor:eepers in Marton, and warnings given vhere necessary.
Second Inspector.—l have interviewed a number of representative-, of the lifferenr local authorities, and further 'xplaiucd this matter. All I have seen ppeared quite favourable to the 3oard 's proposal.—Adopted. The Health Inspector presenter! 41m following report on infectious diseases in the district during the month: —V»\nganui Borough, tuberculosis 2, chickmpox 4; Gonville Town Beard, chicker.">ox 2; Castlecliff Town Board, tuberculosis 1; Waiotara County, scarlet fever i; Rar.gitikei County, diphtheria 1: Marton Borough, scarlet fever ], chickenpox 1; Taihape, diphtheria 2, typhoid 2; Waimarino County, typhoid 5. Miscellaneous. —Miss E. Evans. Ranjitane. asked for the Board's recomnendation to the Government to enable her to secure free training in midwifery.—Approved.
Dr. W. J. Foltham suggested that the 3oard should grant him a subsidy to ipen a private hospital at Ohaknnc.— Held over for further particulars. Accounts- amounting to Cl.OtiS 12/2 were passed for payment.
