There is a good demand for all descriptions of produce, and prices are advancing. The mutton market is firm. Canterbury is not quoted, as there is no supply on hand. North Island quoted 5 11-16 d per lb; ewes, sid lb. Lam/b: There is a good demand for everything offering. Other than Canterbury shows a rise cf 3-Sd. Beef: The market is quiet, but very firm, owing to the short supply. Chill- j

ed New Zealand hind quarters, 6id per lb; forequarters 6d. Chilled hinds lid, fores 6 3-Sr. Butter: The market is quiet and at a decline. Prices are irregular. Danish 138/ to 140/ per cwt. New Zealand 134/ to 136/; unsalted 136/ to 140/. Australian 132/ to 134/. Argentine 132/ to 134/. The Cheese market was firm until about the middle of this week, but closed rather quiet. Canadian cheese market is quiet. Quotations, white and j coloured, 78/ to 80/ per cwt. New Zealand cheese market is quiet. White and coloured 87/ to 89/ cwt. English cheddar cheese market is firm owing to the supply running short. Present quotations 94/ to 96/; Australian, white and coloured, 85/ to 88/. The Tcngarir.o arrived but has not commenced discharging dairy produve on account of the congested state of the docks and sheds. The hemp market is firm and prices continue to advance. The wheat market is quieter and buyers are more reserved. Canadian 6/3;. American 6/3; Argentine 6/2 are j the best prices offering for January to r March shipments. I

Messrs. Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report on th" Folding 6't'i' hell 01: Priday, February 12th: There was im extra heavy yarding of sheep, of which our entcry comprised SOOO odd sheep, mostly lambs; prices showed a decline from last week, owing to the. number jarded. However eve listse to report a very, successful sale, very little going out unsold. We had a good entry of cattle, including some well-grown bullocks,, which realised £9 15/-. We quote:

Sheep: Best woolly lambs 9/4 to 10/5, best shorn, lambs 9/- to 9/10, medium woolly lambs 7/- to 9/2, medium shorn lambs 6/- to 6/9, cull lambs 4/G to 5/6, 5-yr. breeding ewes 14/9, fat and forward ewes 16/1, two-tooth wethers 15/1, 2,4,- and 6-tooth ewes (small) 12/1. Cattle: Bullocks £8 5/- to £9 15/-, fat cows £8 13/-, others £5 10/-, store cows £2 In/- to £4 14/-, weaners 21/- to 31/-. Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report:— At our Wanganul sale on Wednesday, the 10th- inst., we had a full yarding, viz., 5,800 sheep, 700 mixed cattle, and 170 pigs. We had a good attendance of buyers. Sheep sold well and most lines were quitted at auction, and only a couple of small lots turned out unsold. More cattle than advertised came forward, and with the exception of a line of four-year-old bullocks and a few small lines, we quitted the 'balance of the yarding, mostly after the sale. A full entry of pigs, good heavy porkers selling at late values; but; stores were easier.

At the Waverley sale on Friday, the 12th hist., we had a good yarding, viz., 400 cattle and 6,500 sheep. The attendance was good and the bidding spirited throughout. Sheep sold well, and all were disposed of with the exception of one pen of ewes. The five-year-old breeding ewes on account of Mrs. J. Peat made IG/2 and the 4-tooth ewes 18/ to 18/1. Cattle maintained late values and we quitted practically all those yarded before the day closed We report a good sale for all classes of stock. Quotations.

At Wanganui: Pull-month breeding ewes 12/10 to 14/6, medium ditto 11/3 to 12/-, 4-tooth ewes 17/S, 6-tooth to full ewes 15/7, 2-tooth ewes .13/2 to 15/9, wellbred 2-tooth ewes 17/(1 to 21/6, 4-tooth wethers .17/9 to 39/3. lambs 9/5 to 9/(5, medium ditto 7/-, 4tooth Romncy ewes 20/6, fat lambs 15/-, fat ewes 17/2 to 18/7, .?ull ewes 6/6. to 8/3.

Pigs: Heavy porkers £2 8/- to £2 15/-, good porkers 37/- to 43/6, medium ditto 28/- to 31/-, others 20/- to 23/6, stores 15/6 to 18/-.
