STUBBORN FIGHTING. p-e« Association— Copyright. PETROGRAD, Feb. 15. Official: The fighting in the Lyck, Raigrod and Grajewo region is very stubborn. Our troops further north are falling back on the fortified lines of the Niemen, under pressure of great German forces. We repulsed attacks in the Gorlice-Svieduick region and captured the enemy's fortifications at Smolaik, east of Lupkoj, taking over a thousand prisoners. There is stubborn fighting on tne Tukla-Wyskoj front.
V PIGHTING CONTINUES IN r- BUKOVINA. •RUSSIANS SHATTER AUSTROGERMAN LINE. PETROGRAD, Feb. 15. Fighting continues in Bukovina. The Russians, reinforced, repulsed a series of attacks. After entrenching north of K-'mpolung, where the snow was doep, three Russian counter-attacks shattered the Austro-German line at three points, compelling retirement. The temperature was 20 below zero, and there wore piercing ice-laden winds, making it difficult to distinguish friends from foes at a hundred yards. The Austro-Ger-mans succumb to the cold quicker than the Siberians and the exposure is causing the wounded horrible sufferings. A thousand were enveloped in snowdrift 1 ?.
DIABOLICAL AUSTRIANS. PETROGRAD, Feb. 18. The Russians are fortifying Czerno--witz. "When the Austrians re-occupied it in November they wreaked horrible vengeance on the inhabitants with Russian sympathies. They hanged a number without trial, forcing the condemned to assist to hang their friends on a crude gallows and watch their death agonies before they themselves wore strangled. . AUSTRIA'S MAIN ATTACK. I '■ PETROGEAD, Feb. 15. The Retch's war correspondent is of the opinion that the chief Austrian attack will be in the Carpathians. Only two other army corps are facing Servia. Three Bavarian corps at Orsova proved badly trained Landsturm. 50,000 TURKISH PRISONERS. PETROGRAD, Feb. 15. It is announced that since the beginning of the war Russia has taken prisoners almost 50,000 Turks.
