STOCK MARKETS. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having a good entry of sheep am?, cattle at their Palmerston sale on Thursday, the 11th inst. There was a good demand for ,sheep and every line sold under the hammer with the exception of one small pen. Quotations: —Small lambs 5/4 to 5/7, medium lambs 8/2 to 8/8, rape lambs 10/6 to 10/11, small wethers to 12/4, medium wethers 15/7, mixed age ewes to 10/11, empty cows to £-1 10/-, 20-months’ steers to £4 10/-, light bulls &4 7/(3.
FALL IN PRICES. FIRST EFFECTS IN CANTERBURY. FAT SHEEP AT CULVERDEN MARKET. NO REGULAR BUYERS. In consequence of the disturbing out. look in regard to the shortage of refrigerating tonnage the Culverden market on Friday was a complete fiasco. About 4000 fat sheep and lambs were penned, but the regular buyers were conspicuous by their absence and only one or two small lots were disposed of by auction. Six lots .of fat lambs were sold privately at the following rates: 262 at 17s 4d, 210 at 15s, 102 and 100 at 18s, 46 and 213 at 17s and 139 wethers at 19s 9d. These prices represented a drop of from 2s to 3s per head compared with the values ruling at Hawardeu the previous day. LONDON MARKETS. Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London Office under date 10th instant: “At the tallow sales the market was excited. Prices were irregular, showing an advance of 1/ to 3/ per cwt. on last week’s rates.”
