BRICKFIELD BECOMES INFERNO.
A DESPERATE FIGHT. LONDON, Feb 14. “Ejye-Witness” details of the capture of the brickfield near La Bassee show that the British and French artillery concentrated a terrific fire on the enemy’s defences among the brickstacks. The effect of the lyddite shells was ter. rifle, and created great havoc amongst the enemy. British storming columns rushed the position on three sides before the Germans had recovered from the effects of the bombardment. The Germans left seventy dead.
