PICTURE THEATRES. A large house 'welcomed the screening cf the Nordisk coniesy, “His Phantom Friend/ ’at the Station Street Theatre last night. The picture l ,love ' one of the best of its kind ever screened inthe district, and how a husband manages, with the aid of a faked letter to join a friend of his m the gay city. They have a merry time together and the husband returns, little 0 suspecting that his wife has suspicions. The wife, in order to hnd out the truth, gets her brother, an actor, to disguise, with the aid of a photograph, as the city “friend,” and pay her husband a visit. Hubby, on hearing of the proposed visit of, as he believes, his friend, becomes almost distracted and in order to get out of the dlfficuty gets one cf his club mates to disguise as the “friend.” Then a mix-up of the most humorous nature follows, the climax being reached when the real friend himself appears on the scene. The other pictures were also of the highest order inclusive of the fine picture of the last Melbourne Cup. The star film, screened at the three Stars Theatre last, night proved a gigantic success, the plot.was good, the acting .was good and the setting in rugged Canadian scenery, was magnificent. The A.K. Company are the producers of this splendid photo-play, entitled,, by the way, “The Trapper’s Mistake.” The screamingly humorous Keystone comedy, “Her Bandit Friend/’ and the beautiful scenic gem, “Lake Lucerne,” both proved of the most intensely interesting nature, while the remaining programme was also cf no mean order.
