Cables state that the attitude of Turkish officers, at coastal ports, visited by British ships, provide a continual comedy. A cruiser recently called at Sidon and landed a party of sailors, when the commander of the Turkish troops, pleading indisposition, retired to his private room until the British departed, after a thoroughly friendly visit Later the Governor, of Damascus officially published an account of how the Turkish troops heavily defended Sidon, and finally drove off the enemy's cruiser; also landed parties at Alexandretta without resistance. The general hospital established at Helipolia Palace Hotel is one of the most luxurious in the world.
