CROWN LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. At a meeting of the Wellington Land Board there were present: Mr T. N. Brodrick (Commissioner of Crown Lands) in the chair, Messrs H. T. Ellingham, J. Georgetti and C. Mclntyre. TRANSFERS. The following" applications to transfer were received and approved on the usual conditions: M. Anderson to W. A. Davidson, section 8, block 9, Hautapu, 200 acres; M V. E. Hughes to M. Quillinan, section 21, block 4, Mangahao, 21a Or 32p; L. C. Fraser to E. E. B. Sykes, section 16, block 4, Mangaone, 140 acres. VARIOUS APPLICATIONS. Mr S Blake applied for permission to sublet section 1, block 2, Mangahao, 2noa 2r Op, to Mr R. R. Scott, and it was resolved to decline.

With reference to the purchase of the fee simple of section 7, block 8, Manganui S.D., it was resolved tc fix January Ist in each year as the date for payment of of principal as required by section 24 (3) of the Land Laws Amendment Act; 1914. Messrs Muggridge Bros, having applied fcr a lease of portion of section 7, block 12, Manganui S.D., it was resolved to decline the application as this land is already let to Mr Elligate.

Mr T. Weir applied for a license to mill timber on sections 3, 6 and 7,bloek 5, Manganui S.D. —It was resolved to decline the application, and to advise the applicant of ether lots of timber available for disposal. Mr W. Lloyd applied for a permit to cut five green trees on Crown Land south of Erua station. It was resolved to grant the permit a t .the usual royalties, the said trees to be marked by the ranger and cutting to be subject to his supervision. Mr G. R. Bell wrote offering an explanation as to liis failure to execute the improvements required on section 6, block 16, Retaruke, 537 acres, and it was resolved to forfeit his interest and re-offer section loaded with value of improvements. The following applications for fee simple were approved: Section 19, block 14, Manganui, 199 a Or 32p, E. S. Voelkerling; section 29, block 2, Mangaone, 10a lr 29p, E. Luoni. It was resolved to grant Mr A. Peck a license to split firewood from dead timber en block 5, Horopito West village settlement, at the royalty recommended by ranger; output to be tallied by ranger before removed from the ground. It was resolved to re-offer for cash by public auction the unsold sections in Owhango township, at the reduced upset prices recomm e nded by the ranger.

Mensrs Reid, Kay, and Reid, the licensees of sections 5 and sa, block 6, Kaitieke S.D., renewed their application to have adjoining section 2a, 17a 2r 27p, added to their holding, under section 14 of th e Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, and it was resolved to recommend for approval at a price of £2 10s per acre. It was resolved to reooirimend that Mr A. McColl, l e ssee in perpetuity of section 46, block 14, Ohinewairua, 283£ acres, be allowed to select adjoining sections 46a and 65, 11a 2r, under section lb of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912,• at the unimproved valu e fixed by the ranger, viz., £l4l 6s 6d.

Mr J. A. Ross applied for a lease of section 30, block 4, Mangahao (3a), and it was resolved to decline his application. Mr E. G. McKinnon, holder of section 40, block 10, Hautapu, renewed his application to be allowed to select the adjoining section 54 so that he can get access to water.—lt was resolved to postpone consideration until the* ranger's valuation is received. David Tod, licensee of section 5, block 13, Kaitieke S.D., 814 acres, applied for an exemption of rent and rates for a period of two years, this concession having been granted over the surrounding sections. It was resolved to recommend the concession under the power given by section 25 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal, etc., Act, 1911, the exemption from rent to date from July Ist, 1914. Mr Henry J. Banks, licensee of section 1, block 1, Manganui, applied for permission to appoint a substitute to comply with residence conditions under section 22 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913 ReColved to postpone consideration until he appoints a substitute. J. Shanahan, licens e e of section 139, block 4, Mangahao, 88a 3r lOp, wrote with regard to his failure to comply with residence conditions.—Resolved to accept his explanation as satisfactory in the meantime. It was resolved to grant C. Miley a permit to cut silver pine sleepers, posts, etc-, oi|t of >dead timber in block 16, Makotuku S.D., at royalties recommended by the ranger and subject to his supervision. , Mr R. Richardson applied to transfer section 28, block 2, Tiriraukawa, 19a Or 24p to Mr Thomas M. Quinn, and it was resolved to postpone consideration until a report is received from the ranger. ......
