BELGIUM’S DESTITUTE PEOPLE

LONDON, Jan. 26. Fifty thousand destitute throng Brussels relief kitchens. Soup is distributed daily from twenty-one canteens under the protection of the American flag. In outside townships villagers are searching the fields in the hope of finding' stray potatoes. They pick fruit which is rotting in orchards. Old people return home to die rather than face new lands. The young are going' forth to new lands with poor bundle of rags on their shoulders.
