BOROUGH FOREMAN’S REPORT. The Borough Foreman submitted his report cn the work carried out since ;lie previous meeting of the Council as follows: The major portion of the period has been taken up in procuring and breaking a further quantity of dean metal for future requirements.
The grass and weeds on road sides : s being mowed and streets are being ■leaned up generally. Several fences on the Oval Domain have been broken in places. I am having all wires re-strained and all broken posts replaced. A further portion of the sewerage system has been thoroughly flushed cut. As the castings for installing an automatic flushing tank are in stock, I would recommend that same be installed in Pipi Street, which would have the effect of flushing a considerable portion of the sewerage system, on which the grades are very low. On various of the outlying roads, the culverts to-carry storm waters are toe far apart, and in consequence the roadway suffers during heavy rains. I would, therefore, ask for authority to purchase sufficient timber to complete eight culverts. The Corporation Swimming Baths have been thoroughly cleaned out and liraewashed. As the result of the scarcity of water the baths have been closed for an indefinite period. Since the inception of the Borough, various estates have been sub-divided and roaded. These roads are now under the control of the Borough. I would point out that there is no record or plan to show the bearing and boundary of such roads. I would, therefore, recommend that a plan of the Borough be prenared, showing the location and bearing of all-public roads within the Borough. ' The report was adopted. “WORKS COMMITTEE’S REPORT.
