HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. Market is firm, notwithstanding larse receipts on account of' delay in discharging on account of difficulty 'in securing labour. Canterbury 5|3 per lb, North Island 5 7-1 fid, ewes 5 3-164. Lamb. —Market steady "and , fair business doing. Canterbury two's 6 5H, other than' Canterbury 6 3-Bd. Very few of this season's lamb to hand, and selling slowly at 7d. Beef is in fair demand for better grades, and limited demand for poorer grades. Market firmer on account of purchase for Government. N.Z. hinds 6 5-16 d, fores Chilled—A limited supply; hinds 7 l-Bd, fores sid. Butter.—Market firm, with upward tendency. Good demand for colonial butters. Danish quiet 150 sto 154 s per cwt., New Zealand 138 s to 140 s, Australian 1.34 s to 138 s, Siberian firm.and good demand 126 s to 1325, Argentine 134 s to 1375. Cheese.—Market steady. prices -well maintained. -Canadian ' white and coloured firm but quiet, 78s v to 79s per cwt. New Zealand white and coloured firm 76s to 775. Estimated stocks of Ca* nadian cheese, January 1, 160,000 boxes, against 223,000 at same time last year. N.Z. cheese stocks, January 1, 6000 crates' against 7000 at same time last year. Hemp.—Market-rather more astive for New Zealand on aecount of small supply on hand. Spot, New Zealand good fair £26" 10s per ton, fair grade £24 10s, fair current Manila £27 Ics, January-Mai'ch ship'meht New Zealand good fair grade £25 10s, fair grade £2B 10s. Fair current Manila £2B.' Quotations are. nominal. The output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Wool. —-Market firmer for crossbred s and unchanged for merinos. Wheat.—Market firm with improved demani. Oats —Market quiet but firm. Scheelite.—Messrs G. Blaekweß, Sons, and Co., Ltd., London, quotation January 5,26 sto 27s "per unit.
