TAU HENARE SPEAKS. "I'M A DARK HORSE." (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. Ttfu Henare, the Northern Maori member, stated to a "Star" representative to-day, that he had not been elected as a supporter of Mr Massey or Sir Joseph Ward. He stood as an independent; he contested the election without help from either party and he had been returned pledged only to do his best for his constituents. "I'm a dark horse," he said, and absolutely no one knows what I will do'with my vote. At present there is a movement to upset the election on account of alleged bungling by returning officer. If the appeal succeeded he would again be a candidate probably as an Independent. He gave the Chiefs an opportunity of discussing the position so that they might indicate their views, but as they were evenly divided, he was left now to pursue his own course.
