The inquest re-opened this morning, when Detective-Sergeant Rawle, of Wellington, gave evidence of the arrest of Rotterman in the bush adjacent to Te.Kamara Station, near Capo Tera,wliiti, on Saturday, January 2. When arrested Rotterman caid, “I’m guilty; 1 Luow v hat Lie done.” When charged wit’lf the murder of McCann, Mrs. McCann and infant, Rotterman said, “I'm guilty; God punish the man who bought, me into this country.” Later, Rotterman asked if Me-. Cann had been buried. Witness said he thought so. x ? Mr. W. R. llaselclen, as coroner, said , in view of the fact that he had, as stipendiary magistrate, to immediately examine the charges of murder against Rotterman, he thought it advisable to abstain from any comment on the evidence adduced at 'the inqnset. He ; had no doubt about his verdict, which was as follows:—That Joseph McCann, Lucy McCann, and the infante John McCann, died at Ruahine oi| December 28, as the result of wounds wilfully inflicted, by Arthur Rotter-; man, with an axe on the head and neckf of the three McCanns; that Arthur' ' Rotterman did wilfully murder the a said McCanns. -' The verdict was received by Rotter- \ man with evident equanimity. . ..
