TAIHAPE ATHLETIC CLUB’S PICNIC AND GALA DAY.

The main attraction for New Year’s Day will be the Monster Picnic and Gala Day promoted by the Taihane Athletic Club. The gathering will take place on the Recreation Ground, Taihape, and the committee are leaving no stone unturned to make the outing a huge success. A good programme is being provided, including a chopping event, jumping events, weight judging and numerous other competitions, and these will provide excellent entertainment for the adults. • The Club have this year decided rhat the mothers and children in the district will, have pleasant recollections of New Year’s Day, 1915. Children’s races and scrambles will be the order cf the day and huge quantities of toys, nuts and lollies are being provided for distribution. The Club will also provide free of charge milk, tea, and hot water. All the visitors are requested to bring is the edibles and mug« or pannikens for the liquid refreshments provided. A number of side shows will be in evidence and th -f •‘■committee cordially invite the public generally to attend. Ladies and children are admitted free.
