In Wanganui tho Opposition has adopted Mr. Veitch, in Wellington South, Mr. Hindmarsh; Wellington Suburbs, Mr. Moore; Wellington East, Mr. McLaren; Otaki, Mr. Robertson. All the acknowledged representatives of Labour in Grey Lynn selected Mr. Fowlds, Mr. Payne being left out by both parties. Where Labour has no candidate they have adopted the Opposition nominee.

A SALUTARY SENTENCE

In the Supreme Court, Albert Kerr, aged 21 years, was sentenced to three and a half years’ reformative treatment for carnally knowing a girl under 16 years of age.

Benjamin O’Connell and Samuel Emerson were found guilty of robbery with violence. The former was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment with hard labour and one year’s reformative treatment, the latter to two years and three months’ hard labour. Christopher Tucker for theft at Picten received twelve months’ hard labour.

In the Hamilton Supreme Court, the case against Stuart Bixcn, president T-Tuntly Miners’ Union, charged with misappropriating un’em funds, grand jury after long deliberation decided uo case to go to the jury.

A single man, J. Neve, employed at Strahan’s Brewery, met his death this morning under peculiar circumstancees. He was working at a tank and had an electric torch with him. What actually happened is not known, but deceased’s body was found with the torch lying under his chin.
