DOCTOR'S IMPORTANT EVIDENCE

Doctor Fraser, of San Francisco, gave evidence. He said Mistress Slingsby did not give birth to the child, she adopted the illegitimate boy of Lilian Anderson. The doctor added that he gave a certificate calling the child Slingsby in order to protect Lilian's good name.

The Union Castle Co. has removed its boats from Southampton to Tilbury. The Atlantic Transporter *?as arrived with nearly 14,000 tons of ' merican fruit It is almost impos:ble to store or hire as the barge theds are crammed with goods.

SHOP CLOSING REGULATIONS
WELLINGTON, December 5.
The Secretary for Labour draws retention to the regulations under Legislature Act relating to the holiday on election day. He points out rhat all shopkeepers who are required to close their shops for the weekly half holiday must, in election week, •lose on the afternoon of election day. Factories need not close, but all factory employees entitled to vote must bo allowed a reasonable time without •ny deduction from their wages.
