John O'Noil, who was remanded from yesterday, on a charge or drunkenness was this morning convicted and fined 10/, in default forty-eight hours. A general meeting of the Taihape Amateur Athletic Club is to be held at the Fire Brigade Hall on Monday night to make arrangements for the sports on New Year's Day. The asphalting of the Taihape Tennis Club's courts is practically completed. A meeting of the committee will be held early next week to fix the opening day. which will probably be Saturday. November 28th. A farewell social is being accorded Captain Shipway of the Salvation Army on the eve of her departure from the district. The function lakes place on Monday night at the Salvation Army Hall. The admission will be a '•basket". Captain Shipway is to be succeeded by Captain IN. Brown, of Wellington. ' A splendid scheme is afoot in the Tiriraukawa district that should swell the Belgian Fund to a considerable extent. The farmers of the district in \ question are each donating a fat sheep to be sold at next Wednesday's Taihape stock stile, through Messrs. Datgety and Co., the proceeds to go to the aforementioned fund. Mr. E. T. Bliss, the schoolmaster the organiser of the scheme, is already in receipt of thirty sheep.
