The Meaning of Admiralty. We have only to look at our own harbours with their increasing bustle _ o activity, at our merchant vessels plying their regular routes, and at our stead?, uninterupted supply of foodstuffs, to receive an indelible lesson in the mean-, ing of admiralty. The value of the control of the sea has never in all naval history been more impressively demonstrated than the past two months. Thanks to it, we are able m these islands in the midst of an unexampled convulsion to ■ lead wluu is practically a normal existence.— Daily Mail. V '*■ America’B_rieet. .1^... fn, the Reichstag, as in the Parliament at London, the growth of our fleet has been cited as a reason why the strength of England's and German? s should be increased. The Nelson Spirit. The Admiralty has done well to r»peat the fact that the loss of these cruisers makes no aprpeciable difference to the fighting strength of the Navy. The passing of man brave men is, of course, a grievous misfortune, unhappily inevitable, and to be accepted with pride and resignation, but the (spirit of the Navy remains as splendift as it has always been, and it is well expressed in the' last modest lines of dhe report written by Commander Norton, of the Hogue: “1 have the honour to submit that I may be appointed to another ship as soon as I can get a kit.' That is the Nelson spirit, the spirit that wins victories. —Express.
