At the wool sales there was good competition for superior merinos and satisfactory prices were obtained with crossbreds. There was a heavy fall in the opening rates. Greasy to 13^d. ■ The Mayor officially opened the Council's cold storage works. They are considered to be the best installation in the southern hemisphere. The works cost £BB,OOO. MELBOURNE, November 10. Judge Murray, Lieutennat-Governor of Papua, has been appointed Administrator of German New Guinea and the adjacent islands. Mr. Fetherbridge, Secretary of the Defence Department, has bean appointed administrator of the Marshall's, Carolines and otheif islands. Edward Edwards cf Eichengruen, managing director of the Continental Cautchouc and Gutta Percha Company ’ia s been arrested and interned by the military authorities The prohiblion of the export of news, papers has been removed. The annual inter-state eight-oar and sculling championship has been postponed till 1916 on account of the war.
