ENTERTAINMENTS.
“A TRIP BEYOND THE CLOUDS.” A scientific lecture in astronomy, “A Trip Beyond the Clouds,” will he delivered by Mr. and Mrs. John Gilchrist in - -the Gymnasium Hall this evening. The lecture, illustrated by moving pictures, deals with the Moon, Sun, Mars, and the Solar System in general, and should prove exceedingly interesting. During the evening humourous and sentimental songs will bo rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Gilchrist. The latter as Miss Maud. Alexander, who is already wellknown in musical circles, is the possessor of one of the finest contralto voices in New Zealand, ; PICTURE THEATRES. The fine star drama “ The Wiles of a Siren”--was screened before an appreciative assemblage at the Three Stars last night. The photo-drama deals with a wealthy cynic, who, starting life afresh in the country, falls hr love ... with and - mantes a parson’s daughter. They return to society, but his wife not caring for the life, spends her time in charity work. She is the means of bringing together her husband’s chum and his long lost sister. An adventures”-, deeply in love with the cyniq, hears of this .and brews suspicion in nis mine, against his wife which causes a deal of trouble only patched up after numerous startling incidents. A large "house” witnessed the second presentation of “From the Jaws of Death” at the Station Street Theatre last night.
