MISCELLANEOUS
(Times and Sydney Sun. Cables.) LONDON, November 15. The Times military correspondent, commenting on unusual activity in the Kiel Canal, says the hcur to most surely strike is when the German fleet can put out to sea to carry out, if it can, some desperate enterprise, probably with the co-operation of the army. i Precautions are being taken against spying. Germans are forbidden to enter churches in Flanders. A peal of bells might be secret signals or prevent hearing the approach of hostile aircraft. Officers declare that the Kaiser is determined to get to Calais, preliminary to the invasion of England. Turkey's war declaration against the Allies alleges that the Russia fleet attempted to mine the Bosphorua. Russia did not reply to Turkey's demand for an inquiry, but recalled her Ambassador. Britain and France acted similarly. The Frankfurter Zeroing alleges that the treatment of German war prisoners in England is so bad that 45 j out of 700 died from pneumonia and typhoid in cue week. The truth is that five deaths occurred —one from heart disease, one dropsy, one fractured skull (an accident) and two aneurism of the aorta. British marines interned in Holland subscribed for the purchase of a cinematograph, which nightly gives amusement.
