Major Rreedt with 46 Britstow.i loyalists had an engagement with 3tadler' s 206 rebels at Schuitdrift. The rebels under the white Hag, asked for an armistice to enable Maritz to be brought to discuss surrender. Breedt agreed, but after the loyalists bad been recalled Stadler appeared under a white flag and demanded Breedt to surrender because he was surrounded by superior numbers. Breedt ordered his men to reoceapy their positions and this was accomplished despite an attempt to cut them off. Meanwhile 50 rebels under a whiie flag at the rear were disarmed by a ruse. Breedt's force then successfully retired, carrying off their transport after inflicting severe losses. Small parties cf the rebeis have been, captured on the Cape and transanal borders.
