THE HOSPITAL MOVEMENT.
A I'uhlic meeting was held at the International Hotel on Tuesday evening last, for the purpose of taking steps to estnblish an International Hospital in Apia. Tho attendance was not as numerous as might have been expected, considering the object of the meeting. On the motion of Dr. Funk, seconded by Mr. Aspinall, Mr. Haggard was a ppointod chairman, and on the motion of Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Partsch, Mr. Aspinall was appointed secretary, for the meeting. Mr. Haggard stated thnt ho took a deep interest in Hospital affairs, and would gladly do all in his power to further the establishment of such an institution hero. Ho then proposed that a, provisional committee, to consist of Dr. Funk, Messrs. Frings, Davis, Aspinall, Blacklock and Parker, with powor to odd to their number, bo appointed, to Beek the co-operation of other gentlemen, and to draw up a scheme for organising matters on a solid basis. Tho motion was seconded by Mr. Donvers, and carriod. It was decided that another meeting be held in a fortnight hence to hear and consider tho report of tho provisional committoo, and tho Press was requostod to notify tho same in their columns. Mr. Aspinall stated that tho amount on hand, the proceeds of tho rocont concert, and Sir Robert Stout's lecture, was §9o —§09 from the concert and S'iti from tho lecture. Some discussion took placo with regard to appointing a committoo of gcntlemon for tho purpose of getting up entertainments in aid of tho Hospital funds, but it was ovontually decided to leave overytlung in tho hands of the provisional committoo for tho present. Tho mooting closod with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
