Reports received here reveal chaotic conditions in French Indochina and Annam, where scarcely a day passes without armed clashes j between native bands, who are rebelj ling against French rule, i The most serious incident from the point of view of casualties recurred last Friday at Vinh, an important North Annam centre, wmet an army of rebels, many thousands strong, marched on and launched a massed attack. The French forces were in readiness. They employed a squadron of military planes, which checked the rebels in a lively e'ncounter. The rebels left more than 100 dead and hundreds of wounded. Many of them were captured by thejr French pursuers. The country resembles a war zone. The French are supplementing the existing forces by Foreign Legion i detachments.
