THEFT ALLEGED
TWO MEN ARRESTED BY POLICE REMANDED FOR A WEEK As the result of police investigations concerning goods reported as missing from vessels in the harbour, Thomas Henry Langlois, alias Smith, alias Butler, a trimmer, aged 31, and. Alfred Thomas Henry Shilton, alias Westlake, alias Curtis, alias Thompson, a labourer, aged 44, appeared iu the dock at the Police Court today. Skilton and Langlois were jointly charged with, on August 5, stealing from a vessel a pair of binoculars, a decanter, a quantity of tinned fruits, two saucepans, two tins of benzine, grease, rope, a rug and a rifle, of a total value of £2O. The goods were the property of Reginald Dicksou Rogers. Skilton was further charged with, on the same date, stealing a dinghy and a pair of rowlocks, of a total value of £2O, the property of Charles Chambers. Chief-Detective Hammond asked for a remand until September 27, which was granted by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M. Mr. S. Clark, who appeared for Langlois, asked for bail, which was allowed in one surety of £SO. “There is no question of bail for the other man,” said Mr. Hammond. “He is out on licence from prison."
