RETURNING TO PORT

KIWITEA NEEDS REPAIRS TO TANK WAS BOUND FOR WESTPORT The Union Company’s steamer Kiwitea is putting back to Auckland for repairs to a tank. Wireless advice to this effect was received from the vessel yesterday. She left'here on Monday evening for Westport and reports that she met with a strong south-westerly gale. The Kiwitea later advised that she expected to reach Auckland this evening. No details of the trouble were given in tho wireless message. but it is thought that one of the ballast tanks .which form part of her double bottom needs repairing. From the information received it is not considered that the trouble experienced by the Kiwitea is serious. She is a vessel of 2,343 tons.
