WAR RELIEF FUNDS

SOCIETIES’ GOOD CONTROL “Without any self-complacency, it may be confidently claimed that from a policy viewpoint the present administration of the patriotic associations of the Dominion in the interests of returned men and dependents cannot be improved.” This summed up the opinion of the Auckland Provincial War Relief and Patriotic Association on the report of the ex-soldiers’ rehabilitation commission, presented to the executive yesterday. The report stated that the Minister °£ ns ions, and Auckland members of Parliament had been written to by the association strongly objecting to the absorption of patriotic funds by any Government authority or control and emphasising the satisfactory character of the present patriotic administration under the existing War Funds Act and its amendments. The Minister’s reply that it was not proposed to give effect wholly to the commission’s recommendations was regarded by the association as satisfactory, as it appeared that the executive’s administration would not be injuriously* affected. This consensus of opinion of other patriotic societies supported the views of the Auckland Asj sociation.
