TWO FOR SOUTH

RACING TOMORROW BLACK MINT AND ROYAL GAME Black Mint and Royal Game are all set for a trip to some of the smaller meetings in the South Island, a venture that their owner, Mr. W. IJ. Ballinger, has prospected with success on similar occasions, writes The Sun’s Wellington correspondent. Both are in fair fettle, and it would not surprise those in this part of the country to find them making a start by paying their way at the Ashburton meeting tomorrow. Neither is capable of winning if the opposition is strong, and it is the fact that the field for the Ashburton Handicap does not look a. good one that makes me suggest that they should be kept in mind for that fixture. Black Mint has not struck his true form for a. long while. There was a time when he was a good horse, and if lie comes back he will Win several races, as he is very nicely weighted at present. Ho won at IMarton, but the race really should have gone to CourugGOUs, who went on to Wanganui and won decisively. . Royal Game raced at V anganui, but did not seem to be in the best of humours, and gave a lot of trouble at the barrier.
