ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

The Belmont Association Football Club held a “Smoker” in the Masonic Hall, Devonport, last evening, Mr. J. Harrison, acting as chairman and toastmaster. In his opening remarks, Mr. Harrison said that the club had had a tough season, but it was far from being downhearted, and next year, he believed, would see Belmont a really strong club. After all the game was played for sport, and that was the proper spirit. He welcomed a representative of the League code, Mr. Morgan, saying that every sport had its place in the life of the community and was worthy of support. Mr. Clarke, of the North Shore Soccer Club, toasted the Belmont Club, classing the players as good sports—on or off the field.

A concert programme was provided by Messrs. L. Ford, Dave Munro, D. Rose, P. C. Blenkarne and H. Trew heeler.
