DESTRUCTOR REPAIRS
TAKAPUNA COUNCIL DECISION After lengthy discussion concerning the alleged inefficient working of the North Shore destructor at Takapuna, tho Takapuna Borough Council las t evening decided to take no steps vmtil the plant, which is now being repaired, is again in commission. Experts have been called in and consider that the destructor will not cause a nuisance after alterations are completed. A subsidy for £215 for the metalling and sealing of the intersection of Kitchener and Shakespeare Roads has been approved by Cabinet. A proposal to form a motorists’ camping ground at Milford was discussed and will be dealt with later. Permission was granted the St. John Ambulance Association to take up a street collection on Friday, October 3. A 10-year lease was granted the Auckland Harbour Board for a 10ft by 10ft building at St. Leonard’s Road. This will house the control apparatus for Rangitoto Beacon when the light is changed to automatic control shortly. It will be lighted electrically.
