AN EXPEDITION TO THE AUCKLAND ISLANDS, in an attempt to recover thousands of pounds worth of gold lost in the wreck of the General Grant in 1866, has been organised by Mr. C. R. Ackerley, of Auckland. The gold is known to be valued at £10,500 and possibly at over £1,000,000. The picture shows Norman’s Inlet, on the eastern side of the island.
