Howitt again made a strong plea for the establishment of hospital accommodation on North Snore. He supported his claim by citing: a serious motor accident resulting in a young man’s death, in which, despite the efforts made by the ambulance and the ferry company, two hours elapsed before the victim was admitted to hospital. The feeling was 22 strong that there should be some hospital facilities on the other side of tne harbour, which would enable a Patient, with the ambulance facilities available, to be taken to the institution inside 20 minutes.
