CAR GOES OFF ROAD

MOTORIST INJURES A LEG Special to TUB SUN WAIHI, Today. A severe gash on one leg was suffered by Mr. Bert Newman when his car went off the road in the Karangahake Gorge yesterday morning. A woman passenger was unhurt. Mr. Newman had just passed a ser-vice-car at a bend when his car went over the side of the road, and, turning a somersault, landed in some stunted tree growth, which saved the car from falling into the Ohinemuri River some distance below. A man in the service car, looking back, saw the vehicle go over, and he and others went to the rescue and brought Mr. Newman and a young woman jvho was. with him to Waihi, where the former was admitted to the hospital suffering from a bad cut to the leg. The car was extensively damaged.
