HIS MAJESTY’S NEXT WEEK Is there any need to remind Aucklanders of the Oriental splendour of “ChU Chin Chow.” “Cairo, or ‘Tutankhamen”? Each was a masterpiece in its lighting effects, and Mr. Oscar ABChe is a genius. The elaborate lighting arrangmeiits and special plant necessary to differentiate the ancient from the modern scenes of ' Tutankhamen' are in the capable hands of Mr. Chas. Crosher, who has had many years experience of theatrical lighting, including personal contact with Mr. Oscar A«he. The Auckland Amateur Operatic Society is indeed fortU'lorgeous court scones, dungeons, Egyptian market places, the now famous burial chamber of * h ® Pharaoh, with all its wonders, and a glimpse into Tutankhamen s harem, are all included among others m the special scenery painted by that veteran scenic artist, Mr. landvell, tor the forthcoming revival of ‘'Tutankhamen" at His Majesty’s tomorrow Air. Lind veil’s own early experience in the East and his diligent research through the public institutions for the best effects, combined with fidelity to period, have been mvaluablo to the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society.
