PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The final meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board, prior to the election was held last evening.
The clerk reported that on September 12 the general account was in credit £ 1,878. Accounts totalling £478 were passed for payment, leaving a credit in the bank of £1,40" and approximately £4,000 in rates still to be collected. The chairman, Mr. T. It. Smytlieman. expressed pleasure at the state of the finances of the board, and said the new board was particularly fortunate in taking over the reins of the district with such a favourable balance in hand. On the proposal of the chairman a unanimous vote of thanks and appreciation for their services was accorded to Messrs. E. S. Sorensen and -i- A'ettlingham, chairman and member of tlie works committee respectively, and regret was expressed at their inability to seek re-election. Messrs. Sorensen and Xettlingliam suitably responded.
