The stipendiary stewards of the Australian Jockey Club concluded an inquiry today into Roy Reed’s ridinsr of Nightmarch in the Chelmsford Stakes at the Sydney Tattersall’s Club’s races on Saturday. They censured him, declaring that he did not make the
Dominion horseman R. REID earned the displeasure of the A.J.C. stewards for his handling of Nightmarch. most of Nightmarch’s chance of winning. The horse should have been ridden more vigorously. The stewards also inquired into an alleged case of interference in the Spring Handicap when Eaglet and two other horses bumped. The stewards expressed the opinion that the trouble was caused by the leaders slowing down and allowing Gay Crest to get on the heels of those ahead, resulting in much jostling. A prominent Metropolitan candidate Gwilliam G., is reported as having gone amiss.
