DEVONPORT ORPHANS

SUCCESSFUL MEETING Major-General Sir George Richardson was chairman of the session of the Devonport Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening. The official visitors were the minister!*, of the various churches. Among those present were:—The Rev. IT. B. Wingfield, the Rev. Mr. Haslam. Padre Sawyer, Captain Gillespie, and Bro. Archibald, secretary of the Takapuna Club. Apologies for absence were received from the Rev. \V. Lawson 'Marsh, the Rev. Father Furlong, the Rev. W. E. Lush and the Rev. W. G. Monckton.

Captain Gillespie acknowledged the chairman’s welcome to the visitors. The artists for the evening were Messrs. McMinn, Me Spinning, Sisted. Wheeler. J. Lonergran. and Barry Ingall’s Royal Hawaiians. The club’s orchestra, under Mr. Charles Wood, provided its usual lively fare.
