PROVINCIAL MEETINGS Much business was dealt with at a. meeting of the Glen Eden Women’s Institute, chiefly in connection with the Dominion Conference, to be held in Wellington. The president, Mrs. JTuyton, will attend as delegate. Mrs. Hawkey was appointed a delegate to the provincial conference in place of Mrs. Bond, who has left the district. Mrs. Huyton presided. TE UKU BRANCH Remits for the annual conference were read and discussed at a meeting of the Te Uku Women’s Institute, held recently. Great interest was shown in the exhibition of old articles brought by members, especially in some beautiful Dresden china and a very old liandembroidered child’s frock. Mrs. Featherstonhaugh an d Miss Bates were hostesses. BENEFIT AFTERNOON AT WAIN GAR O Several remits for* the biennial meeting of the Auckland Provincial Federated Women's Institutes were discussed at a meeting of the Waingaro Women’s Institute, held at Mrs. Barber’s home. Mrs. Picken presided. Remits for the Wellington meeting were also considered. A demonstration of smocking by Mrs. Parsons was much enjoyed. A special sales table for the benefit fund was well patronised. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Brunskill Mrs. Coleman. GARDENING LECTURE AT GORDONTON Mrs. D. Riddell presided over a ■ large attendance of members and friends at a meeting of the Gordonton Institute. Mrs. D. Riddell and Mrs Bridgman were appointed delegates to the Auckland Conference. Four new members were enrolled. A sale of plants under the charge of Mrs. Bridgman was well patronised. Mrs V. Chitty gave a lecture on “Garden- , ing” and Mrs. Vincent sang. , Afternoon tea was served by Mosdames Parfitt, Williamson and Thomas.
