APOLOGETIC BURGLAR
SAYS “SORRY” TO VICTIM ALSO THANKS DETECTIVES Special to THE SUN PALMERSTON N., Friday. The somewhat unusual sight of a burglar apologising to the man he had robbed and thanking the police was witnessed in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court this morning when William Victor Haslam. a clerk, aged 23 years, admitted breaking and entering the residence of Mr. P. S. Larcomb. On being committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, accused said to Mr. Larcomb from the dock: “I wish to express my apologies to you for any inconvenience I may have caused you, and to the detectives and police I wish to express my sincere j thanks for the way they have treated | me.” 9
