The decision to support the Auck- : land Chamber of Commerce in its rej presentations that the railways be re- ! moved from political control, and their { administration be placed under the charge of some competent commission or a board of directors, was readied I at a meeting of the Pukekohe Cham- : ber of Commerce last evening. Mr. j Cooper presided. j The proposal to install a sewerage j system for the borough was discussed | by the meeting, it being decfded to employ a man to canvass for signatures to a petition to be presented to the borough council. Advice was received that the halfyearly conference of Franklin chambers would be held at Pokeno on October 19. The president reported having interviewed the chairman of the Franklin County Council, Mr. J. N. Massey, M.F., and having received his assurance that the council was doing all in its power to complete the Whangarata- ■ Pokeno and Happy Valley - Bombay Roads.
