FINISH OF THE MARANGAI HANDICAP ON THURSDAY AT WANGANUI.—The big outsider, Count Palatine, defeating the favourite, with Otairi (rails) in third place. Following them closely are Marjoram, Yoma (outside), Star Stranger (centre), Blimp trails) an d Balloon. It will be noticed that Star Stranger finished well up, and this is of interest in view of the Martian gelding’s engagement in the Avondale Cup next Saturday.
