ADVERTISING EXPERT
TO JOIN N.Z. FIRM The production department of CattsPatterson (N.Z.), Ltd., at Wellington will shortly be under the control of Mr. B. E. Pike, a prominent advertising expert from Australia. He is reto be an artist of great ability, and to possess a flair for original presentation. Mr. Pike, originally trained for lawin London, was educated at Dulwich College, Surrey. He went to Australia to take the post of advertising manager to a large Queensland firm of outfitters, later becoming partner in a firm of printers and advertisers. He
was managing director of a cinematograph advertising company which controlled the rights of 72 theatres. In association with Captain G. M. Dash, he organised the Hughes scheme of publicity in connection with conscription (luring the war. Mr. Piko represented the combined Australian advertising institutes at a recent world convention, later spending nearly a year in study in America. LONDON MEAT MARKET The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office at the close of business this week: “Wethers: The market is improving. Ewes: The market is quiet and unchanged. Lambs: There is a better demand for the time of the year. Beef: It is thought prices will remain steady at present quotations: Wethers, light, to 6d a. lb: heavy. 4d to 43d; ewes, 3d to 3 5-8 d; lambs, twos. 8d to Sgd; eights, B£d to 83d; fours, 8 3-8 d to 8 5-8 d; seconds, 7d to 7£d; ox hinds. 5d to 54d fores, 3d to 3Jd; cow- hinds, 4d to 4sd; fores, 23d to 3d.
